  • 300 g chicken breast (boiled and shredded or cut into small pieces)

  • 2 medium onions (thinly sliced)

  • 3 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tsp sumac

  • 2 tbsp pine nuts (toasted)

  • 6 pieces markook bread (or saj bread)

  • Salt (to taste)

  • Black pepper (to taste)

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan, then add the sliced onions and sauté until soft and golden.

  2. Add the cooked chicken to the onions, season with salt, black pepper, and sumac, and cook until well combined.

  3. Cut the bread in half. Place one layer of bread in a greased baking tray.

  4. Spread the chicken and onion mixture evenly over the bread, then sprinkle toasted pine nuts on top.

  5. Cover with the remaining bread and press the edges gently to seal.

  6. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Brush the top with a little olive oil.

  7. Bake for about 25 minutes until golden and crispy.
