Ingredients
4 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup milk
3 cups flour
1½ cups cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
Chocolate sauce, as desired (optional, for decoration)
Method
Place the flour and sugar in a mixer bowl, then add the butter and eggs.
Add 1 cup of cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and the baking powder.
Pour in the milk and beat well until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
In a separate bowl, place the remaining cocoa powder and baking soda, then pour over 1 cup of hot water and mix until fully dissolved.
Add this mixture to the cake batter and mix again until combined.
Pour the cake batter evenly into two greased baking pans.
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Bake one pan at a time for about 30 minutes, or until cooked through. Remove from the oven and allow the cake to cool before serving.
