Chicken Stroganoff for Ramadan Iftar

Chicken Stroganoff is a classic Russian dish, traditionally made with steak or boneless, skinless chicken. This easy and flavorful meal pairs perfectly with fluffy rice and makes a delicious addition to your Ramadan menu!

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup olive oil

  • 500g chicken breast (sliced)

  • ¼ cup butter

  • 1 onion (chopped)

  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)

  • 250g mushrooms (sliced)

  • ¼ cup flour

  • 1 cup chicken broth

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp mixed spices

  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme

  • 1 cup cooking cream

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • ½ cup sour cream

Instructions:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a pot over medium heat. Add the chicken slices in batches, stirring until they turn golden brown, then transfer to a plate.

  2. Melt the butter in the same pot. Add onion, garlic, and mushrooms, stirring until softened. Then, mix in the flour, stirring continuously.

  3. Pour in the chicken broth, bringing it to a boil.

  4. Season with salt, black pepper, and mixed spices.

  5. Return the seared chicken to the pot. Add thyme and cooking cream, stirring after each addition. Let it simmer over low heat.

  6. Stir in the soy sauce, then remove the pot from heat.

  7. Add the sour cream, stirring gently for a minute.

  8. Serve Chicken Stroganoff hot with fluffy rice or pasta.
