The Blessings and Benefits of Marriage

Marriage is one of the blessings that God has granted to His servants, and He made it beloved and desirable for people so that it becomes a means for the continuation of human life. Islam encourages marriage and makes it obligatory for those who are able to marry and fear falling into sin. For those who are able, even without fear of temptation, marriage is considered a Sunnah.
Some people avoid marriage because of its responsibilities and challenges, but if they knew its religious and worldly benefits, they would pursue it without hesitation. In this article, we discuss the benefits of marriage.

The Benefits of Marriage

Marriage has many benefits, including:

  • Obeying God’s command to populate the earth.

  • Earning rewards by following the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, as every lawful act can become an act of worship with sincere intention.

  • A strong protection against committing forbidden acts, and a reason for chastity and purity.

  • Emotional stability, security, and peace of mind. Marriage is natural for human beings; men need women, and women need men. Remaining unmarried despite the ability to marry leads to missing many needs that marriage fulfills.

  • Preserving the continuation of mankind through having children, increasing the number of Muslims, and contributing to the improvement of society.

  • Gaining righteous children who pray for their parents during life and after death; they are considered a continuous charity for them.

  • A means of achieving wealth and escaping poverty.

  • Cooperation between spouses in managing life: the wife takes care of the home and children as suited to her nature, while the husband works to provide for the family and supports the upbringing of children.

  • Physical and health benefits for the body.
