The year 2027 will mark the 20th anniversary of the launch of the first iPhone, known at the time as the iPhone 2G. To celebrate this milestone, Apple is preparing a major design evolution for its iPhones, with new models expected to be released over the next two years.
iPhone 2027 to Feature No Front Camera Cutout
According to the latest leaks about the 2027 iPhone design, Apple plans to make a subtle but significant change to the device’s front interface by completely hiding the front camera under the display. This means a screen without any visible notch or hole.
Technical accounts on China’s Weibo platform have shared leaks indicating Apple’s intention to release an iPhone with an under-display camera (UDC). The year 2027 is expected to see Apple unveil its first truly full-screen iPhone, with both the Face ID sensors and front camera hidden beneath the display. Tech experts predict Apple will enhance the image-capturing mechanism for the under-display front camera, which is already present in some Android devices but faces challenges in image quality due to light passing through the screen layers.
Additionally, the camera is expected to rely on AI algorithms to improve the quality of photos taken from the hidden lens. Apple is also considering enhancements to Face ID to ensure that facial recognition remains precise and secure even when the sensors are hidden under the screen. The company has collaborated with LG Innotek, one of its South Korean suppliers, to develop cameras that are invisible when not in use. These cameras use special lenses to reduce image distortion and improve brightness.
While these leaks remain unofficial until Apple confirms them, rumors suggest that the 2027 iPhone may feature an almost bezel-less design with a display curving on all four sides of the device, representing a radical redesign for iPhones.
