Spiced Mashed Potatoes – The Original Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • ¼ cup warm milk

  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin

  • ½ teaspoon paprika

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 clove garlic, mashed

  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil the potatoes: Wash the potatoes well, then boil them in salted water for about 25 minutes or until fully tender.

  2. Mash the potatoes: Drain, peel, and place them in a bowl. Mash thoroughly with a fork until smooth.

  3. Prepare the butter mixture: In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the mashed garlic and sauté for one minute, then pour in the warm milk. Stir until well combined.

  4. Combine: Pour the butter–milk mixture over the mashed potatoes and mix until fully incorporated.

  5. Season: Add cumin, paprika, black pepper, and salt. Stir well to evenly distribute the spices.

  6. Serve: Transfer the spiced mashed potatoes to a serving dish, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve hot.
