Ingredients
For the pizza dough:
-
6 tablespoons hot water
-
½ teaspoon instant yeast
-
1 cup all-purpose flour
-
½ teaspoon sugar
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
¾ tablespoon olive oil
For the pizza sauce:
-
1 cup mashed tomatoes
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
For the topping:
-
¼ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
-
¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese
-
10 slices beef pepperoni
-
1 teaspoon olive oil
Preparation
1. Prepare the dough
-
In a small bowl, mix hot water and yeast, and let it sit for 1 minute at room temperature until it activates.
-
In a separate bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and olive oil. Add the yeast mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
-
Sprinkle a little flour on your work surface and knead the dough gently by hand. Return it to the bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rest for 5 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
2. Make the pizza sauce
-
Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
-
Add garlic and sauté until fragrant.
-
Add the mashed tomatoes and stir occasionally for about 15 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
-
Remove from heat and set aside.
3. Cook the pizza
-
Brush a non-stick skillet with a teaspoon of olive oil.
-
Place the dough in the skillet and press it out evenly to cover the bottom.
-
Cook over medium heat for 2 minutes, or until the bottom becomes golden and crisp.
-
Flip the dough carefully, then spread the pizza sauce on top.
-
Sprinkle with mozzarella, cheddar, and pepperoni slices.
-
Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and cook for a few minutes until the cheese melts completely.
4. Serve
Remove the pan from heat, slice your skillet pizza, and serve hot — right from the pan!
