Rice is one of the main staples on the Arab table, with many varieties that differ in taste, grain size, cooking methods, and uses. Among these, long-grain basmati rice stands out as light on the stomach, quick to prepare, and easy to digest — making it a great choice for a healthy, diet-friendly meal.
Ingredients
-
500 g (½ kg) basmati rice
-
2 tbsp vegetable oil
-
1 tsp salt
-
1 tsp white pepper
Preparation
-
Wash the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 10 minutes. Drain well.
-
In a pot over medium heat, heat the vegetable oil. Add salt, white pepper, and the drained rice.
-
Cover the rice with boiling water.
-
Cook over high heat for about 5 minutes, until most of the water is absorbed.
-
Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot tightly, and let it cook for about 30 minutes.
-
Once cooked, turn off the heat and let the rice rest (covered) for 2 minutes.
-
Fluff gently with a fork and transfer to a serving dish.
