Baked Sardines



Sardines are rich in iron and calcium, and they’re also a good source of magnesium, potassium, zinc, and choline. They contain no carbohydrates, fiber, or sugars. Try this easy baked sardine recipe and serve it alongside your favorite appetizers.

Serves: 4 people

Ingredients

  • 1 kg sardines, cleaned

  • ½ cup lemon juice

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 5 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tomato, finely chopped

  • 1 tsp ground coriander

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp turmeric

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • 1 tbsp rosemary

  • 10 slices lemon

Method

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the lemon juice, rosemary, garlic, vegetable oil, tomato, salt, cumin, coriander, paprika, chili powder, and turmeric until well combined.

  2. Add the sardines to the marinade and toss until fully coated.

  3. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 1 hour.

  4. Arrange the sardines in a baking dish and top with lemon slices.

  5. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

  6. Bake until the sardines are fully cooked, then serve hot.
