Google Messages Introduces “Undo Send” Feature

Many of us have experienced moments where we hesitate to send a message, want to delete it, or feel the need to rephrase it before sending. While most messaging apps already offer the ability to delete or edit messages, Google Messages had lagged behind—until now.

To address this, Google has officially launched a new Undo Send feature for Google Messages. This feature allows users to delete messages containing typos, incorrect information, or messages accidentally sent to the wrong recipient.

Undo Send Feature

The Undo Send feature enables users to recover a message after sending it, allowing them to correct mistakes or delete it entirely. Google had been developing this feature earlier in 2025, and it’s now officially rolling out.

Thanks to Rich Communication Services (RCS), users can now delete sent messages from any device. When deleting a recently sent message, users can choose between:

  • Delete for me

  • Delete for everyone

Why Undo Send Matters

This feature is important because it allows users to:

  • Rephrase or correct messages after sending

  • Remove messages entirely if necessary

  • Protect themselves from accidental mistakes

However, there are some limitations:

  • The delete option is available only for a short period, typically within the first 15 minutes after sending.

  • Once the recipient has seen the message, deletion may not be effective.

  • Any screenshots captured before deletion cannot be undone.

This update reflects the shift in mobile messaging from traditional SMS to RCS, offering users greater control, flexibility, and privacy in their conversations.
