How to Make Orange Peel Cake

Ingredients:

  • Egg whites: 3
  • Egg yolks: 3
  • Salt: A pinch
  • Vanilla: 1 teaspoon (liquid)
  • Vegetable shortening: 1/2 cup
  • Sugar: 1 3/4 cups
  • Orange juice: 4 tablespoons
  • Baking powder: 2 teaspoons
  • Orange peel: 1 (grated)
  • Milk: 1 cup
  • Flour: 3 cups

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a deep bowl, beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt and liquid vanilla using a hand mixer until completely combined and stiff.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the egg yolks, then add the shortening, sugar, and orange juice. Continue mixing until fully combined and the sugar dissolves.
  4. Add the baking powder, grated orange peel, and milk to the yolk mixture and whisk together.
  5. Gradually add the flour to the yolk mixture while mixing until you get a smooth consistency.
  6. Gently fold the egg yolk mixture into the egg white mixture and mix carefully until fully combined.
  7. Grease a cake pan with shortening and dust it with flour. Pour the batter into the pan.
  8. Bake for about 40 minutes or until the cake is fully cooked.
  9. Let the cake cool to room temperature before slicing and serving.
