Homemade yogurt is one of the essential foods many families like to prepare at home, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. It has high nutritional value and is an ideal choice for the suhoor meal, as it helps soothe the stomach, replenish fluids, and give the body a feeling of comfort during long fasting hours.
Ingredients
1 liter milk (fresh, full-fat)
1 cup plain yogurt (at room temperature)
¼ teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon powdered milk
Instructions
Heat the milk in a pot over medium heat until it reaches the boiling point.
Remove the milk from the heat and let it cool slightly until it becomes warm and comfortable to touch.
In a bowl, whisk the yogurt with the sugar and powdered milk until well combined.
Add the yogurt mixture to the warm milk and stir gently until fully blended.
Pour the mixture into clean glass cups.
Arrange the cups in a baking dish and pour boiling water into the dish until it reaches halfway up the cups. Cover the cups well and wrap them with a cloth or plastic wrap. Leave them in a warm place, such as a turned-off but warm oven, for 6–8 hours until the yogurt sets.
Place the yogurt in the refrigerator for about 2 hours before serving.
