WhatsApp Introduces Enhanced Sticker Search and Web Calling Features

This week, WhatsApp is rolling out a new experience aimed at making it easier to search for stickers in both individual and group chats for some users. The update introduces quick filters in the sticker keyboard and pre-configured stickers that can instantly convert typed words into stickers.

New Sticker Search Features

The new feature allows users to:

  • Search for stickers using keywords.

  • Access quick filters directly in the sticker keyboard. These filters include terms like “Hello”, “Haha”, “Love”, “Sad”, and “Awesome”, enabling users to start a sticker search with a single tap.

This feature aligns with an earlier 2026 update that added custom stickers and filters for the New Year, designed to add a festive touch to chats and status updates. Users can share these stickers in:

  • Individual chats

  • Group chats

  • Status posts

  • Video calls

How It Works

According to WABetaInfo, the keyword-based sticker search displays pre-made stickers at the top of the sticker menu. Additionally, users can dynamically create text-based stickers using predefined templates. This update will be available for Android users first.

The feature enhances speed and flexibility, allowing users to send expressive stickers without interrupting the flow of conversations. Combined with limited notification tone customization—where users can assign unique sounds to important chats—WhatsApp aims to deliver a more personalized and engaging messaging experience.

Web-Based Voice and Video Calls

On another front, WhatsApp is developing voice and video calling for WhatsApp Web, without the need to install the desktop app. This feature supports both individual and group calls and integrates seamlessly with ongoing chat sessions.

Once available, call notifications will appear automatically, even when users are navigating other tabs. Users can disable these alerts if they prefer to handle calls on another device or reduce interruptions while using the web interface.

This update strengthens WhatsApp’s focus on ease of communication, personalization, and seamless multi-device use, making chats more expressive and calls more convenient for all users.
