Instagram Launches Revolutionary “Your Algorithm” Tool

Instagram has announced the launch of a revolutionary new tool called “Your Algorithm”, giving users greater control and understanding of the platform’s algorithm, starting with Reels content. Users can now see which topics Instagram believes they are interested in and adjust them—adding new interests or reducing the appearance of certain topics—allowing for a highly personalized viewing experience. This move aims to increase user control and relevance.

How the New Tool Works

The new tool allows users to see the topics Instagram uses to determine what appears in their feed and to modify them according to their interests.

When watching any Reels clip, users will notice a small icon in the upper right corner featuring two lines with hearts on top. Clicking it opens the “Your Algorithm” page, where Instagram displays a list of topics it thinks the user cares about based on their interactions and behavior within the app, using AI-powered analysis.

Using “Your Algorithm”

Through this tool, Instagram offers a more precise and personalized list of topics that appear in the “Your Algorithm” section. Users can:

  • See topics the app believes interest them, such as creativity, extreme sports, fitness motivation, or skateboarding.

  • Share a summary of these interests in their Stories, similar to Spotify Wrapped.

  • Adjust their preferences by choosing which topics they want to see more or less of, updating the recommendations accordingly.

  • Add completely new topics manually if they don’t appear in the suggested list.

Future Expansion

The new tool started rolling out to U.S. Instagram users on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, and will be available globally in English soon.

Instagram confirmed that “Your Algorithm” will eventually expand to include the Explore tab and other areas of the app, giving users even more control over their content experience.
