Braised Meat with Onions – A Classic Arab Dish

Cooking Time: 60 minutes
Serves: 4 people

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg meat (cut into medium cubes)

  • 4 onions (cut into wedges)

  • 2 tbsp ghee or clarified butter

  • 1 tsp seven-spice mix

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • Salt, to taste

  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Wash the meat thoroughly with water and vinegar.

  2. Place the meat in a pot with 2 tablespoons of ghee and the spices. Stir until the meat changes color.

  3. Add the onion wedges and sauté briefly.

  4. Pour a small amount of water, bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let the meat simmer on very low heat.

  5. Add small amounts of water as needed until the meat is fully cooked.

  6. Season with salt and serve hot, with the thick sauce remaining in the pot.
