The popular instant messaging platform WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature that allows users to translate text messages directly within chats on both iPhone and Android devices, making it easier to communicate across different languages. The feature supports translation for new messages as well as an option to automatically translate entire conversations.
Translating Messages in WhatsApp Chats
Starting today, Wednesday, September 24, 2025, the feature will gradually roll out in individual chats, group conversations, and channel posts. It can be activated by long-pressing on a message and selecting the “Translate” option to choose the desired language.

Broader Language Support Coming Soon
WhatsApp confirmed that it will continue to expand translation support to more languages in the future, as part of its effort to compete with apps like Telegram, while maintaining its position as the world’s most widely used messaging platform.
WhatsApp’s New AI Message Verification Feature
Recently, WhatsApp also announced a new feature for iOS users called “Ask Meta AI”, which leverages artificial intelligence to help users understand and verify messages—without needing to forward the entire message elsewhere.
The new option is added to the message menu, where users can select the shortcut to open a conversation with the AI assistant. They can share the message or provide additional context to verify its accuracy or request clarifications.
WhatsApp stated that the feature is still in the early stages of rollout for iOS beta users, after being available on Android, with plans for wider availability in the near future.
