Ingredients
For the dough:
-
2 cups flour
-
½ cup oil
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
¼ cup water
For the filling:
-
250 g ground beef
-
1 medium onion, finely chopped
-
1 green pepper, finely chopped
-
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
-
1 teaspoon salt
-
½ teaspoon black pepper
For topping:
-
1 egg, beaten
-
Nigella seeds (optional)
-
Sesame seeds (optional)
Preparation
-
Make the dough: In a large bowl, mix the flour, oil, and salt. Gradually add the water and knead until a smooth, elastic dough forms. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
-
Prepare the filling: Heat the vegetable oil in a pan. Add the chopped onion and sauté until softened. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Stir in the chopped green pepper, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 5 minutes, then remove from heat and let cool.
-
Assemble the pie: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Divide the dough into two equal portions. Roll out each portion on a floured surface into thin circles. Place one circle in a greased baking tray, spread the meat filling evenly over it, and cover with the second circle of dough. Press the edges firmly to seal.
-
Finish: Poke small holes on top with a fork. Brush with the beaten egg and sprinkle with nigella seeds or sesame seeds. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown.
-
Serve: Allow the pie to cool slightly before cutting into slices. Serve warm and enjoy!
