Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 2 cups flour

  • ½ cup oil

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ cup water

For the filling:

  • 250 g ground beef

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 1 green pepper, finely chopped

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For topping:

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • Nigella seeds (optional)

  • Sesame seeds (optional)

Preparation

  1. Make the dough: In a large bowl, mix the flour, oil, and salt. Gradually add the water and knead until a smooth, elastic dough forms. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.

  2. Prepare the filling: Heat the vegetable oil in a pan. Add the chopped onion and sauté until softened. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Stir in the chopped green pepper, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 5 minutes, then remove from heat and let cool.

  3. Assemble the pie: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Divide the dough into two equal portions. Roll out each portion on a floured surface into thin circles. Place one circle in a greased baking tray, spread the meat filling evenly over it, and cover with the second circle of dough. Press the edges firmly to seal.

  4. Finish: Poke small holes on top with a fork. Brush with the beaten egg and sprinkle with nigella seeds or sesame seeds. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown.

  5. Serve: Allow the pie to cool slightly before cutting into slices. Serve warm and enjoy!
