Apple Set to Unveil iPhone 17 Lineup and New Devices at September 9 Even

Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Apple’s biggest product launch event kicks off. The company is preparing to unveil its next-generation iPhone lineup, along with new Apple Watches and other accessories. Although Apple released its new iOS 26 operating system last June, it still lacks some major upgrades.

Therefore, Apple is expected to rely on hardware changes this year to keep customers engaged with its products. One of the highlights will be major design upgrades for the iPhone. The advanced editions, iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, will feature new back covers that give a fresh look to the camera area.

This launch marks the beginning of a three-year cycle of new iPhone designs. However, Apple has not yet announced a foldable phone for next year. The iPhone remains Apple’s biggest revenue driver and the main reason people buy other connected products such as Apple Watches, AirPods, and protective cases.

Awe Dropping Conference

According to Bloomberg, Apple will unveil four new iPhone models with slimmer designs. One of the most anticipated models is the iPhone 17 Air, which will be about 5.5 mm thick—nearly a third thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro. However, this slimness will come with some drawbacks, such as reduced battery life and only a single rear camera.

The iPhone 17 Air will still feature the A19 chip, like the iPhone 17, along with a standard USB-C port, ProMotion support, and a 6.6-inch display. Its frame is also designed to be thin enough to support physical SIM cards.

As for the Pro models, they’ll be powered by the new A19 Pro chip, offering better battery life and major upgrades in video recording. The telephoto lens will jump from 12 MP to 48 MP.

The Four iPhone 17 Models

Apple plans to release four new iPhone 17 models, moving away from thicker phones with wide bezels toward slimmer ones. The iPhone 17 Air continues Apple’s branding strategy, similar to the MacBook Air and iPad Air.

  • iPhone 17 Air: Same A19 chip as iPhone 17, USB-C, ProMotion, 6.6-inch display, internal Wi-Fi chip, and Apple’s custom C1 modem.

  • iPhone 17 Pro & 17 Pro Max: Return to an aluminum frame after using titanium since 2023’s iPhone 15 Pro. Aluminum is lighter and dissipates heat more efficiently.

  • Base iPhone 17: No redesign, but a slightly larger display (6.3 inches) to match the Pro models.

Apple will also release new accessories, including:

  • A refreshed non-leather case.

  • A slim case similar to the old iPhone 4 Bumper.

  • A luxury cross-body strap, prioritized by Apple’s design team.

  • New colors, including light blue and orange.

Apple Watches

Apple is preparing a major update to the Apple Watch Ultra, with a slightly larger screen to match last year’s Series 10, plus a new S11 chip, 5G RedCap support, and satellite-based messaging for emergencies.

  • Apple Watch Series 11: Will keep the same design but gain a brighter, more color-dynamic display.

  • Apple Watch SE: Expected to be refreshed with a faster chip and updated display, while remaining the most affordable model.

All three models are expected to get new health features such as blood pressure monitoring, Health+ services, and an AI health assistant.

AirPods Pro 3

Apple is set to launch AirPods Pro 3, which may include a built-in heart rate monitor (similar to the Powerbeats launched earlier this year). The new charging case will be smaller, with an updated pairing system that matches last year’s AirPods 4 changes.

Apple is also working on a real-time translation feature for AirPods. Meanwhile, the new AirTag will include an updated wireless chip and better location accuracy.

Other Devices

  • iPad Pro: Minor updates, except for a larger engine and a new secondary front-facing camera on the landscape side.

  • Vision Pro: First hardware refresh, swapping the M2 chip for a newer one.

  • Apple TV: First update in years, with a new processor to support Apple Intelligence and the upgraded Siri launching next year.

  • Smart Home Speaker: Will also get a new chip to support Siri and Apple Intelligence features.
