iOS 26 to Introduce Adaptive Battery Feature for iPhone Users

Reports in the tech world have given hope to iPhone users frustrated with rapid battery drain. The upcoming iOS 26 will introduce a new feature aimed at extending battery life, in addition to the long-standing Low Power Mode.

This new feature relies on advanced algorithms that manage background app usage and automatically adjust system settings based on individual usage habits, focusing on reducing battery drain during idle periods.

New Battery Setting: Adaptive Power

iOS 26 will offer a completely new battery setting called “Adaptive Power”, designed to keep iPhone batteries running longer, especially on heavy-use days.

  • It will appear in Settings → Battery → Power Mode, according to tech news site 9TO5Mac.

  • Unlike Low Power Mode, which disables many features and noticeably affects user experience, Adaptive Power aims to boost battery life subtly without significant performance impact.

  • Apple explains that when battery use exceeds normal levels, the iPhone may make minor performance adjustments, such as slightly dimming the screen or allowing some activities to take longer. Low Power Mode may still activate automatically at 20% battery.

On typical usage days, battery life won’t change dramatically, but on heavy-use days, Adaptive Power will make small tweaks to extend battery longevity.

Device Compatibility

Although Apple does not officially market Adaptive Power as an AI feature, beta users of iOS 26 have found it is only available on devices that support Apple’s AI features (“Apple Intelligence”). This means the feature requires:

  • iPhone 16 or newer

  • iPhone 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max
