Alexandrian Liver with Ginger

Liver is one of the most delicious dishes that many enjoy thanks to its rich flavor, unique taste, and nutritional benefits. It can be served with pasta, plain white rice, or as a sandwich filling with tahini sauce and pickled cucumbers.

🕒 Cooking Time: 40 minutes
👥 Serves: 3 people

Ingredients:

  • Liver: ½ kg (about 1.1 lbs)

  • Vinegar: A little

  • Vegetable oil: ¼ cup

  • Salt: ½ tsp

  • Black pepper: A pinch

  • Ginger: A pinch

  • Cumin: A pinch

  • Nutmeg: A pinch

  • Lemon juice: To taste

Preparation:

  1. Heat a pan over the stove and add the oil.

  2. In a deep bowl, mix the liver with all the spices, lemon juice, vinegar, and garlic. Stir well until all ingredients are combined. (It’s best to marinate the liver overnight for richer flavor.)

  3. Add the peppers first to the pan, then the liver. Stir well to sauté the liver.

  4. Lower the heat and cover the pan for 5 minutes.

  5. Serve hot with bread and fried potatoes.
