Serves
🍽 5 people
Ingredients
-
2 cups all-purpose flour
-
¾ cup semolina
-
2 tbsp cornstarch
-
A pinch of salt
-
1 tsp yeast
-
½ cup vegetable oil
-
½ cup water
-
1½ cups sugar syrup (ready-made)
-
2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
-
In a deep bowl, mix the flour, semolina, cornstarch, salt, and yeast until well combined.
-
Add ½ cup of oil and rub the ingredients together with your hands until the flour absorbs the oil.
-
Gradually pour in the water while kneading until you get a firm dough.
-
Shape the dough into small balls. Take each ball and roll it over a grater to create the textured Zainab’s Fingers shape. Repeat until all the dough is shaped.
-
Heat the oil in a pot over high heat, then fry the pieces until they turn golden brown.
-
Drain the fried fingers from excess oil and immediately dip them into the sugar syrup.
-
Place them on a serving plate and allow them to cool completely before serving.
