Thyme and Cheese Bread

Thyme and cheese bread is a delicious recipe with great nutritional value, thanks to its ingredients such as thyme, which is rich in vitamins and minerals. This tasty bread can be prepared as part of Ramadan baked goods or enjoyed with any meal.

Serves: 8 people

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups warm water
  • ¾ cup powdered milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups fresh thyme (leaves/chopped)
  • White cheese (as needed)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:

    • In a deep bowl, combine the warm water, powdered milk, sugar, yeast, and olive oil.
    • Mix the ingredients well until they are fully blended.
    • Cover the bowl and let it sit for about 15 minutes for the yeast to activate.
  2. Add Dry Ingredients:

    • Gradually add the salt and flour, kneading the mixture with your hands until it forms a smooth dough.
    • Add the thyme leaves and continue kneading until everything is well combined, and you have a firm dough.
  3. Let the Dough Rise:

    • Cover the dough and let it rise for about an hour, until it has doubled in size.
    • Knead the dough again to release any air bubbles.
  4. Shape the Dough:

    • Divide the dough into medium-sized balls.
    • Cover them and let them rest for another 10 minutes.
  5. Stuff the Dough:

    • Roll each dough ball into a round shape.
    • Place a tablespoon of white cheese in the center of each dough circle, then seal the edges to form a ball.
  6. Prepare for Baking:

    • Repeat the process until all the dough and filling are used.
    • Place the stuffed dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    • Cover and let them rest for 30 minutes.
  7. Baking:

    • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
    • Brush the tops of the dough balls with a little olive oil, then flatten them into bread shapes.
    • Bake in the oven until they turn golden and are fully cooked.
  8. Serving:

    • Once the thyme and cheese bread is golden and baked to perfection, remove from the oven and serve immediately.
