Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of the platform "X", announced the launch of the Grok 3 chatbot in a post on his official "X" account. He described it as "the smartest AI chatbot on Earth," marking it as the latest AI model from XAI. This new release could potentially rival the famous chatbot "ChatGPT."
Launch of Grok 3 Chatbot
XAI, Elon Musk's AI company, introduced the "Grok 3" chatbot, which challenges "ChatGPT" with new capabilities for the Grok 3 application on iPhones, as well as for the web version. The new Grok 3 model can analyze images, answer questions, and perform a range of tasks on the "X" social platform.
Capabilities of Grok 3
Musk revealed that Grok 3 was developed with 10 times more computing power than its predecessor, Grok 2, using an expanded training dataset. He added that Grok 3 AI seeks the truth to the fullest, even if it sometimes contradicts established facts. In addition, the "Grok" application will soon feature a voice mode that will give Grok models a synthesized voice.
What is Grok 3 Chatbot?
Grok 3 is a set of AI models, and the "Grok 3 Mini" version answers questions faster but sacrifices some accuracy. XAI claims that Grok 3 outperforms GPT-4o in various criteria, including solving problems in mathematics, physics, biology, and chemistry.
According to the company, two models from the new Grok 3 family can think carefully about problems, similar to reasoning models like OpenAI's o3-mini and DeepSeek's R1. Grok 3 even surpasses the best version of o3-mini in many common benchmarks, including math standards.
Users can ask Grok 3 to "think" or use the "Big Brain" mode, which leverages additional computing power for reasoning tasks. XAI describes these reasoning models as ideal for math, science, and programming questions.
Subscription Plans and Access
Subscribers to the $50-per-month "Beryum Plus" tier will get early access to Grok 3. Additional features will be locked behind a new "Super Grok" plan priced at $30 per month or $300 annually.
New Features and Upcoming Plans
Musk mentioned that in about a week, the Grok app will get a voice mode, giving Grok models a synthesized voice. A few weeks later, new models from Grok 3 will be available via the "xAI" enterprise API, alongside deep search capabilities.
Additionally, XAI plans to release Grok 2 as open-source within the next few months.
This launch signifies a major step in AI development from Musk's companies, as Grok 3 aims to set new standards in chatbot performance and integration with the "X" platform.
