Coffee farms in the Jazan region are a key pillar of sustainable rural development and a main source of Saudi coffee, providing an important income for residents of the mountainous areas, where coffee cultivation is both a passion and a long-inherited tradition.
Al-Daer Governorate is considered the home of Saudi coffee, with farms spread across its scenic mountain heights. The area is known for its stunning landscapes, green valleys, and historical landmarks, making it an important tourist destination.
During Ramadan, communal iftar gatherings in these coffee farms reflect generosity, social bonding, and deep-rooted cultural values. Farmers prefer hosting these meals in the farms or along village roads as a long-standing tradition that strengthens community ties and allows them to exchange knowledge about improving coffee production.
The slopes of Al-Daer include more than 1,100 coffee farms, and the region hosts an annual international Saudi coffee festival celebrating high-quality production and supporting the national economy, in line with Vision 2030, while preserving the Kingdom’s rich heritage of hospitality and tradition.
