Ingredients

  • 1 cup medium semolina (not fine)

  • 1 cup powdered milk

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 1 can cream (qishta)

  • ½ cup liquid milk

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla

  • 3 cubes cream cheese

  • 2 tablespoons shredded coconut (optional, for garnish)

  • Ground pistachios (as desired, for garnish)

How to Prepare Toasted Semolina Dessert with Cream and Pistachios

  1. In a nonstick pot over medium heat, add the semolina and stir continuously until it becomes golden and fragrant.

  2. Add the butter and stir until it melts and blends well with the semolina.

  3. Add the powdered milk and stir for one minute until it toasts slightly and turns golden.

  4. In a blender, add the cream, cream cheese, liquid milk, sugar, and vanilla. Blend until smooth and creamy.

  5. Pour the creamy mixture over the toasted semolina and mix over low heat until the mixture becomes smooth and well combined.

  6. Pour the mixture into a tray or mold lined with parchment paper and smooth the surface with a spoon.

  7. Place the tray in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours until it firms up.

  8. Garnish with ground pistachios or shredded coconut as desired. Cut into squares or circles and serve chilled.
