Homemade Burger Like Restaurants Recipe

To make a homemade burger just like the ones in restaurants, you need some secrets and attention to details. The key lies in the quality of the meat, seasoning method, and correct cooking. Here’s a complete recipe from Nadormagazine for restaurant-style burgers.

Cooking Time: 60 minutes
Serves: 4 people

Ingredients

Burger Sauce:

  • Mayonnaise: ½ cup

  • Ketchup: 2 tablespoons

  • Pickles (chopped): 1 tablespoon

  • Yellow mustard: 1 teaspoon

  • Paprika: ½ teaspoon

  • Garlic powder: a pinch

  • Sugar: a pinch

For the Burgers:

  • Ground beef (fresh, 20-25% fat): 1 kg

  • Coarse sea salt: 1 teaspoon

  • Freshly crushed black pepper: ½ teaspoon

  • Garlic powder: ½ teaspoon

  • Onion powder: ½ teaspoon

  • Smoked paprika: a pinch

Other:

  • Burger buns: 8 pieces

  • Cheddar cheese slices: 8 slices

  • Tomatoes: 2 (sliced fresh)

  • Lettuce leaves: 1 cup

  • Onion: 1 (thinly sliced)

  • Pickles: 1 cup (sliced)

Preparation Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Mix gently with your hands for just one minute until well combined. Avoid overmixing, as this makes the burgers tough and dry.

  2. Divide the meat mixture into 8 equal balls (about 150 grams each). Shape each into a patty slightly larger than the burger bun, as it will shrink slightly while cooking.

  3. Place the patties on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  4. To prepare the burger sauce: in a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, chopped pickles, mustard, paprika, garlic powder, and a pinch of sugar until smooth. Cover and refrigerate until serving.

  5. Heat a heavy grill pan over medium-high heat until very hot.

  6. Grill the burger patties for about 5 minutes until cooked to your desired doneness.

  7. A minute or two before finishing, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt slightly from the heat.

  8. While the burgers cook, lightly butter the burger buns and toast them on the grill until golden.

  9. Spread burger sauce on both top and bottom buns. Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, then the hot burger with melted cheese, followed by slices of tomato, onion, and pickles as desired.

  10. Cover with the top bun and serve immediately with fries or wedges.
