Google introduced a new feature that converts search results on its search engine into AI-generated podcasts within seconds. The feature, called "Audio Overviews," is powered by Google’s generative AI model Gemini. It transforms the text-based search results into a lively audio conversation between two AI-generated voices discussing topics relevant to the user.
Simplifying User Interaction with AI
According to Google, these short audio summaries, lasting only a few minutes, provide users with a convenient way to access information without needing to use their hands—allowing them to multitask or simply enjoy audio content instead of reading text.
This innovation reflects the growing trend among leading AI companies to simplify user interactions with generative AI to the greatest extent possible.
Previous Related Feature
Last September, Google launched a similar AI feature via its generative AI platform NotebookLM, which can convert one or more documents into AI-based podcast-style audio summaries, also presented as conversations.
About Google
Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in September 1998, following a research project they started in 1996 at Stanford University. The company was originally called BackRub before adopting the name Google, inspired by the mathematical term “googol,” which means 1 followed by 100 zeros, symbolizing the company’s mission to organize vast amounts of information on the internet.
Google’s main service is its internet search engine, which handles millions of search queries daily and provides fast, relevant results worldwide. Over time, Google has expanded to offer many free, easy-to-use internet services.
