Apple Launches iOS 26 with Major Changes and New Features for iPhone

Apple has recently unveiled iOS 26, introducing a host of significant updates and a brand-new design language called Liquid Glass. This design offers a sleek, transparent interface where surrounding elements and light reflections add depth and fluidity, enhancing the user experience from the lock screen to icons and control elements.

Long-Awaited Ringtone Customization Feature After 16 Years

One of the most talked-about features is the ability for iPhone users to easily set custom ringtones, a feature Android users have enjoyed since 2008.

Previously, setting custom ringtones on iPhones was cumbersome — requiring complex apps like GarageBand (which is large in size) or using a Mac to convert audio files via the Music app and then transferring them through Finder.

With iOS 26, this process becomes much simpler and faster. Users can now:

  • Select any audio file from apps like Files or Voice Memos.

  • Tap the Share button.

  • Choose the new option “Use as Ringtone.”

The ringtone is then automatically added to the iPhone’s ringtone list, where it can be set as the default or assigned to specific contacts.

iOS 26 and the Liquid Glass Design

The new Liquid Glass design provides a transparent, light-refracting interface that gives users a vibrant and smooth feel. The design covers the entire system—from lock screen and home screen to app icons and window elements—offering more customization and a fresh visual dimension. For example, lock screen elements subtly change appearance depending on the wallpaper chosen, creating a visually rich experience.

Official Release

Apple officially released iOS 26 during its annual WWDC 2025 developers conference, aiming to redefine and enrich the iPhone user experience with these updates and improvements.
