Apple Plans Major Overhaul of Operating Systems with iOS, iPadOS, and macOS Updates

Apple is planning one of the biggest overhauls in its history, introducing major design changes to its operating systems with the upcoming releases of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.

Significant Changes in Operating System Design

According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple's redesign aims to create a more consistent user experience across its software platforms. These changes will affect icons, menus, apps, windows, and system buttons. Additionally, the redesign may take inspiration from visionOS, the operating system for the Vision Pro headset, featuring more transparent elements, floating interfaces, and rounded app icons.

One of Apple's Biggest Overhauls

This will be Apple's first major system-wide redesign since iOS 7 in 2013 and macOS Big Sur in 2020. The company is expected to unveil the new operating system versions mid-year, with a public release later in the year.

iOS 7’s Radical Redesign

The iOS 7 update, led by former Apple designer Jony Ive, introduced a completely new look, while macOS Big Sur brought iPad app support and optimization for Apple Silicon chips.

Apple Intelligence and Siri Improvements

Apple has also introduced Apple Intelligence with iOS 18, bringing advanced features for processing audio, images, and text, along with an improved Siri assistant. However, the new Siri enhancements have yet to be released, with Apple confirming they will roll out next year.
