On Thursday, November 21, 2024, the Nador region hosted a prominent sporting event to mark the 49th anniversary of the Glorious Green March and the 69th anniversary of Independence Day. The event was the Regional School Cross-Country Championship, organized under the supervision of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool Education, and Sport, in collaboration with the Royal Moroccan School Sports Federation, and the Nador Provincial Council, along with the Selouane local authority.

The event, which took place at the Selouane municipal racecourse, was attended by high-ranking officials, including the regional director, who also serves as the head of the local branch of the Royal Moroccan School Sports Federation, as well as administrative and educational officials. Local authorities were represented by the mayor of Selouane, the head of the local council, the regional commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, and representatives from civil society and the Federation of Parents' Associations of Students.

The championship saw wide participation, with 921 male and female runners from different age groups and educational levels, including primary, middle, and high school students from both public and private schools. The participants, ranging from students born between 2006 and 2014, also included three special-needs athletes under 18, who were given special recognition for their participation.

At the end of the event, the regional director commended the efforts of the administrative and educational staff, the local and regional authorities, and the Selouane local authority, highlighting the significant role of physical education teachers in ensuring the success of the event.

The winners were awarded medals for the top three places, and the top teams were honored and qualified to participate in the regional championship scheduled for December 4, 2024, in the city of Jerada.

The championship not only provided an opportunity to showcase athletic talent but also served as a platform to promote values of sportsmanship and national pride among students, fostering a sense of community and commitment to the development of school sports as a key pillar in the upbringing of future generations.
