On Friday, Mr. Abdel Salam Freindo, the Wali (Governor) of the Kingdom’s Representative for the province of Driouch, held a communication meeting with the members of the Municipal Council of Amtalassa. This meeting is part of a series of outreach sessions aimed at engaging with elected councils across the province, understanding the situation and needs of local communities, and addressing the population's concerns.
The Wali was accompanied by a significant administrative team, including the Secretary General of the province, the Head of the Department of Internal Affairs, and various department heads from the provincial administration. They were welcomed by Mr. Adel Qeshouhi, President of the Municipal Council of Amtalassa, along with council members, staff, and employees of the municipality.
The meeting began with an introductory speech by the Wali, where he outlined his vision and approach for managing the region, focusing on seriousness, impartiality, strict adherence to the law, and a participatory approach with local stakeholders to meet citizens' expectations and implement developmental projects. He emphasized that the welfare of the citizens is the central goal of any development efforts.
In turn, Mr. Adel Qeshouhi, President of the Municipal Council of Amtalassa, presented a comprehensive overview of the current situation and future plans for the municipality, which is the largest in the province in terms of both area and population. He highlighted the status of ongoing projects, including completed and delayed ones, and discussed the needs and demands of the local community, with additional input from other council members.
After the meeting, the Wali, accompanied by his delegation and the Municipal Council of Amtalassa, visited the sports complex located within the municipality, directly across from the provincial headquarters. The complex is managed by the Social Work Association for the Employees and Agents of the Driouch Provincial Administration. Mr. Freindo oversaw the handover of four multi-purpose courts for basketball, handball, volleyball, and tennis, as well as two artificial turf football fields.
Additionally, Mr. Mohamed Ben Dahmani, Head of the Buildings, Equipment, and Property Department at the Regional Directorate, presented the architectural plans for the second phase of the Sports Complex and Reception Center project, which has a budget of 30 million dirhams. This phase will include the construction of a racing track, multi-sports courts, bleachers, a martial arts center, and a reception center with 42 rooms, administrative offices, conference rooms, fitness spaces, changing rooms, and sanitary facilities.
